C_NCENTRATE 916: Alternative plastics, your potential, DEI, melting robots, artificial skin +++
A LOT IS CHANGING...FASTER THAN EVER
After you make sure you buy your tickets for TBD Conference (Feb 23)…strap in. Trump is back on Facebook (but not), Google will update its App Store because the EU asked them, Intel had shocking Earnings (down 33% YoY), IBM fires 1.5% of its workforce (±4,000 people), everyone is updating their acceptable use cases for generative AI, Amazon is launching an NFT ‘initiative’, the FBI seized a huge Ransomware gang’s decryption keys via Hive, worldwide smartphone shipments are down +18%. The world is changing; some believe snapping back to the pre-pandemic era (possibly ‘re-globalisation’?), but in reality, macroeconomic and technological changes are driving more inequality and disruption waves that will affect the world for decades.
I spoke to a room full of brands at the SuperBrands and CoolBrands (Disclosure: is a great band, and I am on the CB Council) launch event this week and talked about potential. Time, like potential, may be infinite, but your time on this earth is not; therefore, your choices matter. Don’t think about ‘the future’; think about ‘the next decade’ or what you could (important, see below) do by 2040. For some, fear (usually, not always) drives them to take advantage of or disadvantage others or go for the middle road. At the same time, others create something and strive to master areas, truly embracing change and seeing disruption as exciting and an opportunity. While that opportunity may appear disguised, it’s always there, and it is the choice to see it and act on it early enough that increasingly will determine your and your business’s success.
SO WHAT?
__ DO __ Kill your business. This exercise is among the most humbling and helpful exercises you can do for (and with) your business. // __ DON’T __ Believe you have the time. You don’t have as much as you think. Once you deduct time for sleep, sex, exercise, entertainment, travel, relationships, shopping; you’ll be surprised how little you actually get to work with.
Book a session with us here if you want the real deal on what’s happening in the tech world and how to get the most from it now and in the future.
